FAMILY ASSISTANCE |
|
AAAE Family Assistance Workshop
September 13-14, 2009 Arlington, VA - Sheraton Crystal City
This workshop will be held at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport Training Facility.
The passage of the Aviation Disaster Family Assistance Act in 1996 provided a baseline for airlines and other entities to discuss the roles and responsibilities in consoling and informing family members following air disasters. However, the only role not clearly identified in the law is that of the airport. Yet this does not mean that an airport should be excluded from the family assistance process.
Those who have previously benefited from this training include aviation directors, airport managers, operations managers, airport staff members responsible for planning, engineering, finance, marketing, public relations, legal aspects at public airports, and AAAE members who are or were in either the Certified Member (C.M.) or Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.) programs.
Some of the topics that will be covered at the Family Assistance Workshop are (subject to change): * Basics of Family Assistance Planning * Managing the Media * Actions to be taken by various entities involved: · National Transportation Safety Board · Airline CARE Team · U.S. State Department · Mental Health Professionals · Airport Rescue FireFighting · Chaplain- Clergy ·American Red Cross * Interactive Group Exercises

RECOVERY OPERATIONS |
Third Annual AAAE Aircraft and Airport Recovery Operations Conference and Expo
September 13-15, 2009
Have you ever wondered what happens after an airport incident or accident happens? Is it safe to assume that everyone knows what to do or that "someone else" typically handles those types of events, so there's no need to worry about it? Of course not. Are you that someone who thinks that since it's never happened before, there's no need to plan for it? Hopefully not. Would you like to learn how airport operators and aircraft owners coordinate efforts and resources to restore normal aviation operations? If so, register today for this conference. Individuals who want to gain a better understanding of the airport/aircraft recovery process and how that process affects the airport service environment should attend this conference.
Whether you represent aircraft rescue and firefighting, airport operations and maintenance, an air carrier, aviation insurance, security, public health, public relations, or an aviation service provider that has a role in the response and recovery of an aircraft accident or incident, this conference and exposition is for you! During an emergency planning exercise or emergency response situation, much of the emphasis is placed on the first three phases of an airport emergency: notification, verification and response. Within the response structure, emphasis also is placed on a solid command, control and communication (3-C) structure.

AAAE Airfield Construction Management Workshop & AAAE Airport Pavement Maintenance and Evaluation Workshop
September 14-16, 2009 Minneapolis, MN - Hilton Minneapolis/St. Paul Airport
Airfield Construction Management
The Airfield Construction Management Workshop will offer airport staff an excellent opportunity to learn more about construction management from the leading professionals in the industry. The workshop's primary subject matter will address:
* Risk Management * Creative Project Development * Contracting * Project Controls * Airside Construction: Safe, Secure and Successful
The workshop will provide specific case studies of numerous airfield projects across the country, including runway maintenance, extensions and new runways at fully operational airports of all sizes. Each program will be designed to foster dialogue between panel participants and attendees. Bring specific questions concerning your project to the workshop!
Pavement Maintenance & Evaluation
AAAE presents the Airport Pavement Maintenance and Evaluation Workshop to provide attendees with information that will assist them in establishing an effective pavement maintenance management program. This workshop will help airports maximize the benefits received from every dollar spent on pavement maintenance and evaluation. It will provide attendees with the information they need to make informed decisions about the maintenance, evaluation and repair techniques used to keep their pavement surfaces safe and operational. The techniques discussed will include those that result in minimal disruption to air and ground traffic. The workshop will allow attendees to network with industry colleagues about common pavement maintenance challenges. The agenda addresses issues appropriate to both general aviation and air carrier airports.
